   Soak Seeds

   Day 0

   Soak leek seeds for 6-8 hours in cool water. Leek seeds are small and dark — handle carefully when draining. Change the water once during soaking.

   • Cool water temperatures support better germination in alliums

   Sow and Blackout

   Spread seeds moderately on pre-moistened medium. Cover with a blackout dome for 4-5 days. Leek shoots emerge as slim, straight grass-like stalks.

   • Keep the medium evenly moist but not wet during blackout
   • Leek seedlings tend to bend and straighten on their own — this is normal

   Introduce Light

   When shoots reach 4-5 cm, move to 12-14 hours of grow light. Leeks grow upright and slender. Maintain good airflow to prevent any moisture buildup at the base.

   • Avoid overwatering at this stage — leeks prefer slightly drier conditions
   • Rotate the tray for even, upright growth

   Harvest

   Harvest at 8-12 cm when shoots are slim, vibrant green, and firm. Cut near the base with clean scissors. Use immediately for best flavor.

   • Pairs beautifully with soups, risottos, creamy sauces, and egg dishes
